The recent release of Ocarina of Time on the 3DS has led to a fair bit of speculation as to which Nintendo games deserve a 3D upgrade. Whilst Ocarina has shown that 3D ports are spectacularly cool, it still had to be said that nothing beats a good HD port of a previously released game! Here are our top 10 Nintendo titles that need a HD remake:
Wind Waker HD
There’s not really any justification needed for this. Zelda Wind Waker was the introduction to Toon Link! The shading and overall style of the game are perfect for HD! Combine the games ultimate compatibility with it’s loveable gameplay and story and you’d probably have everyone claiming Ocarina of Time is a thing of the past!
Super Mario Galaxy Collection HD
The Super Mario Galaxy Series was amazing, even more so considering the second game, which was such a success, was mainly built from initially scrapped levels! Obviously the Wii-U will see Mario debut in all sorts of HD forms with all new adventures, but still it would be great to see some previous successes revisited in HD. Much like Windwaker, Mario Galaxy had some stunning environments and was filled with colour! The game in HD would be enough to put you in a trance of enjoyment!
Super Mario Bros HD
I don’t think this needs justification! HD remakes of the real classics are definitely something to get excited about. Recreating the original Mario Bros games with HD sprites and level design would successfully bring some of the best games of all time back for new generations. None of this “New Super Mario Bros” stuff! We want the original!
We’ve long awaited a true Kirby game for the Wii. Unfortunately the announcement came too late.. alongside the Wii U. You can only hope that titles like this and Skyward Sword will have a secret Wii U version waiting for launch in HD! Who doesn’t want to see a crisp smoothed over pink blob?
Super Metroid HD
When considering games, metroid was definitely there! But the question came down to which tittle in the vast metroid franchise we’d like to see! Other M was great with it’s style, but at the same time is definitely something that we’d rather see built on for a whole new game.. What we would like to see though is Super Metroid.
Now a few Nintendo fans may be wondering why some major titles didn’t make our remake list… well! Here are some “Why Not” games:
Smash Bros Series
This series is great, but it’s one of those games that holds the same concept game to game. Each new realise has brought new features and characters, so why look for a HD remake when we know at some point they’ll be releasing a new one?
Mario Kart is such a success for Nintendo. Every device released has had it’s own version of Mario Kart since it’s initial debut, so surely it’s better to wait to see where they go with the next release? That said a bit of Double Dash HD wouldn’t go a-miss!
With Skyward Sword and the Zelda HD that we saw at e3, I think it’s safe to say that our sightings of Link won’t be short over the next few years! Toon Link and Wind Waker bring a different style, whereas twilight princess felt much more close to roots – something we’d hope to see in the up coming releases anyway!
