Next week, up to 60,000 people will descend upon the London ExCeL centre for the MCM Expo. An event that is held twice a year and is essentially London’s answer to San Diego Comic Con and RandomProdInc will be there to cover the happenings of all three days from 26th-28th October!
There is a lot to do at this years MCM Expo, so much in fact it took two press releases to cover everything! The MCM Expo caters for comic book fans, videogame lovers, anime devotees, cosplay wearers and more! Here is a list of everything currently happening at the event including guests, games and tournaments!
-The Doctor himself Matt Smith will be attending on Friday 26th October to mark the release of the Doctor Who: Series 7 Part 1 DVD. He will be hosting a panel alongside the executive producer of Doctor Who Caroline Skinner as well as signing copies of the DVD.
-Jeffery Dumunn and Andrew Rothenburg, stars of the hit Zombie Apocalypse TV Series, The Walking Dead. Jeffery plays Dale Horvath, the moral centre of the small community of survivors, while Andrew plays taciturn mechanic Jim.
-Tony Amendola and Roger Cross from the new Canadian sci-fi police show Continuum. Tony and Roger both play leading members of Liber8, a future terrorist group, who have escaped through time to present day Vancouver.
-Tony Amendola is also at the show for fantasy drama Once Upon At Time, alongside Keegan Connor Tracy. Keegan plays The Blue Fairy in the fairytale-inspired show, while Tony takes on the role of Geppetto.
-A Town Called Eureka creator, writer and executive producer Jaime Paglia is returning to MCM. He is joined by Colin Ferguson and Tembi Locke, who play Sheriff Jack Carter and Dr. Grace Monroe in the popular sci-fi show.
-Film, TV, anime and videogame voice actor Ali Hills, who stars as central character Lightning in Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2
Videogame voice actor Courtenay Taylor, best known for playing Jack/Subject Zero in Mass Effect 2 and Ada Wong in Resident Evil 6.
-Voice Actor Liam O’Brien, who roles include Jushiro Ukitake in Bleach; Gaara in Naruto; War in Darksiders and Vincent Law in Ergo Proxy.
FILM AND TV GUESTS
-Stephen Lobo and John Reardon, stars of Continuum, will be joining Tony Amendola and Roger Cross. Lobo plays former Liber8 member Matthew Kellog while Reardon plays Kiera’s husband, Greg Cameron.
-James Cosmo (Jeor Mormont) and Miltos Yerolemou (Syrio Forel) from fantasy drama Game of Thrones will be at the show on Saturday, while Julian Glover (Grand Master Pycelle) will be attending on the Sunday.
-Genelle Williams and CCH Pounder from sci-fi show Warehouse 13. Williams plays psychic B&B proprietor Leena in the show, while Pounder plays the part of Irene Frederic, shadowy director of the Warehouse program.
-Stand-up comedienne and actress Hattie Hayridge, best known for playing ship’s computer Holly in the recently revived sci-fi comedy Red Dwarf, will be signing in the show’s Memorabilia London area on Sunday.
-Stage, screen and television actor Ian McNeice will be meeting fans on Saturday. Best know to sci-fi fans as Winston Churchill in Doctor Who, McNeice has appeared in a host of major movies and TV series.
-Scream queen Adrienne King’s most famous role is Alice in early 80′s horror classics Friday the 13th and Friday the 13th Part 2. King will be meeting fans in the Memorabilia London area of the show throughout Sunday.
-Also attending on Sunday, Kiran Shah who has appeared in blockbusters such as The Hobbit; Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom; The Chronicles of Narnia; Star Wars Return of the Jedi and all three Lord of the Rings movies.
-Canadian actor Cas Anvar who acting credits include Source Code; Shattered Glass; Lost; 24; Boston Legal; NCIS and La Femme Nikita as well as providing the voice of Altaïr in Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.
-Bond girls Carole Ashby (Octopussy, A View to a Kill) and Caron Gardner (Goldfinger) will be in the Memorabilia London area on Sunday while Françoise Pascal (There’s a Girl in My Soup) will be attending on Saturday.
-Nintendo will be showing off their new console Wii U ahead of its release in November.
-Ubisoft will be bringing Assassin’s Creed III as well as Vita exclusive Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation, Far Cry 3, Wii U exclusive Rayman Legends and Wii U survival horror ZombiU, which ranked no.5 in RPI’s Top 5 Games of Eurogamer Expo.
-Capcom will be showing off DmC: Devil May Cry which came second in our Top 5 of Eurogamer Expo as well as Lost Planet 3.
-Namco Bandai will be hosting a Tekken Tag Tournament 2 contest, as well as previewing Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. They will also be promoting Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition; Dragon Ball Z for Kinect; Dragon Ball Z Budokai HD Collection; Star Trek; Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 3; Tank! Tank! Tank! and Wii U titles Ben 1o Omniverse and Family Party 30 Great Games.
-Square Enix will be letting attendees get their hands on the return of both Agent 47 in Hitman: Absolution and Lara Croft in the reboot of Tomb Raider.
2K will be showing sci-fi turn based strategy XCOM: Enemy Unknown as well as Borderlands 2 which got a perfect 10/10 in Tom’s review.
-THQ will be demoing their upcoming RPG South Park: The Stick of Truth that has been written by the cartoon series creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
-NIS will be letting visitors get a hands on with Persona 4 Golden, a remastered and expanded version of the award-winning JRPG Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 exclusively for the PlayStation Vita.
-Konami will be bringing Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, which won RPI’s Eurogamer Game of the Show as well as Zone of the Enders HD Collection.
-Rising Star Games will be letting you play Under Defeat HD Deluxe Edition for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
-Mediatonic will be showing off side-scrolling brawler Foul Play, a Victorian themed theatrical extravaganza for the Xbox Live Arcade that promises to reward performance over pummelling.
ANIME, COMICS, COSPLAY & OTHER COOL STUFF
-British sci-fi author Peter Hamilton is returning to MCM to celebrate the launch of his latest novel, Great North Road.
-For the first time, MCM will play host to VidFestUK zone – a celebration of all things online video – with guests including Simon’s Cat and Eddsworld.
MCM’s Comic Village shows off the talents of some of the UK’s top comic artists and writers, including Gary Erskine; Rufus Dayglo: Emma Vieceli; John McCrea’ Al Davison; Lee Townsend and many others – the full list of creators can be seen on www.londonexpo.com/comicvillage
-October’s MCM sees a revamped JapanEx area, with the addition of food stalls giving visitors a literal as well as metaphorical taste of Japanese culture. Visitors will be able to try treats from the Wagashi Japanese Bakery; choose from a wide range of Japanese foods at Natural Natural and enjoy a delicious Kakigori (shave-ice) from Nice Ice. Meanwhile, renowned Japanese ceramics shop Doki will be offering visitors a selection from their huge range of pottery imported directly from Japan.
-Letraset is hosting a Manga Alley Art Competition, giving artistically-inclined visitors of all ages the chance to win £120 worth of Letraset products.
-MCM is widely known as the UK’s largest cosplay event so where else could they possibly host the EuroCosplay Championship Finals other than here? This competition sees contestants from more than 20 nations go for the ultimate Cosplay crown.
-MCM also hosts the Totally Cosplay zone, hosting workshops, a photography area and its own stage for panels and performances.
-Rooster Teeth; OMFG! It’s Jack and Dean; RageNineteen and Chris “Slomozovo” Bingham will be joining Simon’s Cat, Eddsworld and Thomas “TomSka” Ridgewell in VidFest UK, their new area devoted to online video.
-Leading anime distributor Manga Entertainment will be entertaining show visitors with a live podcast in MCM Theatre B; treating fans and press to exclusive early news about forthcoming releases and acquisitions; and holding an amazing sale with DVDs starting from £1. In addition, Naruto voice actor Liam O’Brien will be signing for free on the Manga Entertainment stand
-Two of the UK’s top live-action Asian film distributors, Third Window Films and Terracotta Distribution, will be showcasing their extensive Japanese and Asian catalogues in MCM’s newly revamped JapanEx zone.
So as you can see there is plenty for you to do at MCM Expo and chances are with the amount of things to do you’ll be thinking where to start!
